FINANCIAL PLANNING IN 2016

The holidays are a distant memory and 2016 is already up and running.

As we enter “RA season” the focus typically shifts to retirement planning and how much we should be saving to ensure a comfortable retirement. We have all seen the statistics highlighting the combination of high debt levels and low savings rates in our country and we know that most people need to increase their retirement contributions.

The importance of income protection to support retirement planning is sometimes overlooked. Even the most carefully structured retirement plan assumes a regular monthly income and any interruption to this income (even temporarily) will have significant long-term consequences.

Please read our article regarding retirement reform changes and what you as the client need to know. We believe we can assist our clients regarding these changes to make informed decisions regarding their current retirement products but also discussing new opportunities and decisions to be made for your retirement options now and in the future to come.

In addition, most South Africans will need to continue working far longer than previously expected. The reality is that very few are able to retire as planned without a significant drop in standard of living. The good news though, is that people are living longer, healthier lives and many see no reason to retire at the traditional age.

Whatever the reason, whether it is by choice or necessity, many of us will continue working past our expected retirement age – 75 is the new 65.

We have the solutions and products to offer to our clients and to create wealth for our clients as well as peace of mind.

2016 is set to be a year full of challenges for G and S Makelaars (PTY) Ltd but equally full of opportunities.

It is in challenging times that the cream rises to the top and we look forward working together with our clients to make this year a success.
